  • Improve accuracy and scalability of VAT processes by partnering with Product and Engineering to enhance tax determination, reporting, and data integrity
  • Translate complex VAT regulations into system logic and business requirements to support platform and tax engine enhancements
  • Lead VAT compliance activities, including filings, coordination with shared services and advisors, and continuous process improvements
  • Manage VAT audits and tax authority interactions, developing strategies to support timely and effective resolution
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement required updates across systems and business processes
  • Provide clear VAT guidance and training to cross-functional teams, supporting business initiatives, expansions, and governance frameworks

What you will bring:

  • Experience managing VAT across EMEA, with strong knowledge of EU and UK VAT rules, cross-border trade, and digital compliance requirements
  • Ability to apply VAT expertise within technology environments, including tax engines, ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA), and automation tools
  • Experience translating regulatory requirements into operational processes or system solutions
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams
  • Proven experience managing VAT audits and engaging with tax authorities
  • Analytical and research skills to assess legislative changes and business impact
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex VAT concepts to diverse audiences

Additional requirements:

  • 7–8 years of indirect tax experience, focused on VAT within EMEA
  • Background in public accounting and/or a multinational organisation
  • Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Information Systems, or related field; professional qualification preferred
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are beneficial
  • Experience with data analytics or AI-enabled tools is a plus
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model from eBay’s Dublin office and collaborate across time zones
