Job Description - Network Architect

Location: Dublin

Reports to: CTO

Type: Full-time, permanent

About the Company:

A leading cybersecurity company delivering IT Managed Services, Cybersecurity, and Digital Transformation solutions in Ireland. The business partners with global technology leaders including Microsoft, Citrix, Palo Alto, Barracuda, Sophos, and ThreatLocker to help clients build secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructures.

The Role:

You’ll own the design and evolution of secure, scalable network architectures for SME and enterprise clients. You’ll lead discovery, create architectures and low-level designs, guide implementation, and provide expert escalation support across routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN/SASE, remote access, and cloud networking.

Key Responsibilities:

Translate business and security requirements into network reference architectures and HLD/LLD documentation.
Design and oversee implementation of LAN/WAN/WLAN, data centre, and cloud connectivity (including Azure) with resilience, performance, and zero-trust principles.
Lead SD-WAN/SASE designs (e.g., Citrix SD-WAN/Netscaler), VPN/remote access, NAC, segmentation, and privileged access patterns.
Define and enforce standards for IPAM, routing (OSPF/BGP), QoS, HA/failover, DDoS protection, and WAF/Firewall policy.
Produce BoMs, implementation plans, and migration runbooks; estimate effort, cost, and delivery risk.
Mentor engineers and serve as final escalation for complex incidents and performance issues.
Conduct security reviews and contribute to managed security offerings (firewall/SOC/SIEM).
Create client-ready diagrams and documentation; hand over to Managed Services with clear SLOs.

Required Experience:

7+ years in network engineering or architecture within an MSP or multi-tenant environment.
Deep knowledge of routing/switching, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN/SASE, load balancing, and DNS/DHCP/IPAM.
Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: Palo Alto, Fortinet/Sophos, Citrix Netscaler/SD-WAN, Cisco/Aruba/Mist (AI-driven Wi-Fi desirable).
Strong Azure networking experience (VNets, vWAN, VPN/ExpressRoute, firewalls, private endpoints).
Proven track record producing design documentation (HLD/LLD), Visio/diagramming, and engaging stakeholders.
Familiarity with zero-trust/NAC, PAM, and security frameworks; experience with SIEM/SOC workflows is a plus.
