SimoTech is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to deliver innovative automation solutions across manufacturing systems for a client of ours based in Dublin. This role involves configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting Rockwell-based control systems, while contributing to system design and integration projects. Experience with inspection systems and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies will be considered a strong advantage. The ideal candidate will demonstrate hands-on technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement automation solutions using Rockwell platforms (ControlLogix, PlantPAx, FactoryTalk).
  
• Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
  
• Participate in system integration activities, ensuring seamless communication between equipment and control systems.
  
• Develop and review automation documentation including URS, Functional Design, and test protocols.
  
• Perform FAT/SAT and support startup activities for process and packaging equipment.
  
• Troubleshoot complex control issues to maintain operational continuity and optimize system performance.
  
• Work collaboratively with clients, vendors, and project teams on automation and digitalization projects.
  
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and new technology adoption, including IIoT solutions.
  

Key Requirements

• Proven experience with Rockwell Automation platforms including ControlLogix PLCs, FactoryTalk, and PlantPAx.
  
• Strong troubleshooting skills for PLC, SCADA, and networked automation systems.
  
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, OPC).
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to machine vision or inspection systems for quality control.
  
• Knowledge of IIoT technologies and connectivity for data-driven manufacturing solutions.
  
• Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  
• Experience with MES or digital manufacturing platforms.
