Job Description - Senior Cancer Services Pharmacist (Specified Purpose Contract)





RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in Healthcare recruitment for Domestic and Overseas candidates for Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home care and Community care.




 We are hiring a Senior Cancer Services Pharmacist (Specified Purpose Contract) to our  Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.







Specified Purpose contract with flexible working options:Permanent contract with flexible working options: 35 hours over 5 days or 32 hours over 4 days.




Key Responsibilities








  • Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients.



  • Review, verify, and validate chemotherapy and other cancer treatment prescriptions for accuracy, safety, and appropriateness.



  • Ensure the safe preparation, dispensing, and administration of chemotherapy and supportive medicines in line with national and hospital guidelines.



  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to consultants, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team on cancer treatments and medication management.



  • Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and treatment-related toxicities, recommending appropriate interventions.



  • Counsel patients and their families on chemotherapy, supportive medications, side effects, and safe medicine use.



  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and contribute to treatment planning and patient care decisions.



  • Develop, implement, and review oncology pharmacy policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures.



  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and medication safety initiatives.



  • Supervise and mentor pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other staff involved in cancer services.



  • Support the education and training of pharmacy staff, healthcare professionals, and students in oncology pharmacy practice.



  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and research activities to enhance cancer pharmacy services.



  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to medication safety reporting.



  • Manage inventory and procurement of oncology medicines, ensuring appropriate stock levels and cost-effective use of resources.



  • Keep up to date with advances in oncology therapeutics and engage in continuous professional development.







Requirements




  • Registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).



  • MSc or Diploma in Clinical/Hospital Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification.



  • Minimum of 3 years' satisfactory post-registration hospital pharmacy experience.



  • Experience working in an Aseptic Compounding environment.



  • Clinical pharmacy experience in Oncology and/or Haematology.



  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy preparation, cancer medicines, and oncology pharmacy practice.



  • Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills.
