We are currently seeking a Staff Nurse – Surgical Inpatient Units to join a leading hospital in Dublin, Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse to work in a dynamic clinical environment delivering high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and patient-centred nursing care while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to assigned patients while working independently and within professional practice standards.

  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) guidelines, ensuring patient safety and quality care at all times.

  • Assess patients by taking nursing histories, identifying care needs, and developing individualised care plans.

  • Monitor, observe, and document patients’ clinical conditions, reporting any changes promptly to the appropriate medical or nursing staff.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely in line with hospital policies and the prescribed medical plan of care.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with clinical governance standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and patient-centred care.

  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including aseptic techniques and isolation protocols.

  • Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, while educating patients and families on treatment plans and care needs.

  • Participate in continuous professional development, mandatory training, and quality improvement initiatives to maintain high clinical standards.






  • Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) licence.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Surgical Ward preferred.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Demonstrates motivation, initiative, and a proactive approach to work.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Demonstrated planning, organisational, and time-management skills.

  • Flexible approach to work schedules, including shift rotations, night duty, and on-call requirements.

  • Recent and relevant clinical experience within an acute hospital environment.

  • Knowledge of current developments and best practices in the specialised clinical area.

  • Awareness of national healthcare strategies and standards relevant to nursing practice.
