Staff Nurse Theatre

We are currently seeking Staff Nurses – Theatre for a leading hospital in Galway, Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively as part of the nursing team on day duty, carrying out duties assigned by the Clinical Nurse Manager 2.
  

• Deliver high\-quality, evidence\-based nursing care to Theatre patients, actively participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised, patient\-centred care plans.
  

• Recognise and respond to the complex and varied needs of Theatre patients, providing comprehensive and compassionate support to both patients and their families.
  

• Maintain accurate controlled drug records in accordance with recognised legal, professional, and hospital standards.
  

• Ensure the safe storage, handling, and administration of all medications in line with hospital policy, NMBI, and Department of Health guidelines, prioritising patient and staff safety.
  

• Provide supervision and mentorship to less experienced nursing staff, promoting best practice and supporting their professional development.
  

• Deliver holistic care to emergency, medical, and surgical patients, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  

• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up\-to\-date clinical documentation and reports, in accordance with NMBI and hospital standards.
  

• Ensure efficient and responsible use of unit supplies and equipment, maintaining safety and cost\-effectiveness at all times.
  

• Safeguard patients’ personal belongings and adhere to hospital policies regarding confidentiality and care of property.
  

Requirements

• Be registered or eligible for registration in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  

• Have a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience working as a Staff Nurse in Theatre.
  

• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  

• Demonstrate flexibility in work practices to meet the needs of the department.
  

• Show evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to ongoing learning.
