The Role: 

The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the sustainability and innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored.

 

The Sustainable Business Team are responsible for driving environmentally responsible practices and innovative solutions. The team develop strategies that minimized Uisce Eireann’s eco footprint, enhance water conservation efforts and promote community engagement. They work to foster partnership with stakeholders, government bodies and local authorities to create a positive impact on water quality, availability, and overall environmental wellbeing. 

 

Reporting to the Sustainable Business Technical Manager (CSRD and Net Zero), the Sustainability Analyst is responsible for analysing the environmental impact of Uisce Éireann’s operations. The role holder also works to developing plans aimed at reducing any potential negative impacts. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify patterns in energy use and costs over time and recommend conservation/preventative measures

  • Interpret data and statistics to support analysis and forecasts, and prepare high quality reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

  • Review current environmental and sustainability laws and regulations to determine compliance requirements

  • Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the potential impact of new technologies on the environment 

  • Model possible scenarios to predict the effects of future events on the environment 

  • Plan, design and implement programs to promote sustainability within Uisce Éireann

  • Developing strategic plans that consider environmental, social, and economic factors to achieve Uisce Éireann’s sustainability goals 

  • Estimate the cost of alternative energy sources and recommend the best option based on price and quality of output

  • Develop strategies and implement plans and for sustainable growth in Uisce Éireann by using environmentally friendly practices

  • Support and assist the sustainability teams and contribute to developing new products and services

  • Support the Sustainable Business Manager in developing emissions reductions strategies, including science-based targets, net zero roadmaps and sustainability goals.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business

  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards

  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives

  • Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation

  • Other duties as required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable

  • Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives. 

  • Proven track record in resolving complex issues, along with the ability to communicate information to others. 

  • Strong background in upholding organisational values through decision-making and constructive actions 

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions

  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with 

    business strategy and requirements

  • Ability to proactively identify new areas of improvement and implement new ways to do things.

  • Experience in taking ownership of safety responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
