• Responsible for the maintenance of injection molds in the company and compiling standard specifications /procedures for each mold and monitoring all existing molds to standard specifications.
• Responsible for, jigs & fixture manufacture, maintenance on the injection molding and ancillary equipment in conjunction with the machine supplier.
• Works with the Process Engineers in troubleshooting mold problems.
• Attends, schedules and facilitates internal meetings to help establish priorities and assign tasks.
• Solves, in conjunction with the Quality department, customer related problems/issues as needed
• In conjunction with approved toolmakers, research new processes and/or systems for maintenance/manufacture of molds and implement new processes and systems as developed under the direction of the Toolroom manager.
• Instructs others, formally or informally, regarding manufacturing related skills or knowledge and assist in the training of employees on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
• Coordinate the development of documentation in the toolmaking areas in line with ISO9001/ ISO 13485 requirements and review of the systems with the Process Engineer/Group Leaders and the Quality department on a regular basis to ensure conformance to same.
• Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures, and corporate policies.
• Perform additional duties at the request of the Toolroom Manager.
•4 years minimum experience in a busy manufacturing environment
• Toolmaking qualification plus time served with a toolmaker producing injection molds.
• Previous experience in an injection mold making / mold maintenance environment.
• knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, sparking and fitting.
• Ability to weld.
• Good knowledge in mold maintenance and experience of supporting a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in the manufacture and/or repair/maintenance of the following mold types would be a distinct advantage:
• Multi cavity molds
• Hot Runner molds
• Valve gated molds
• Good understanding of the injection molding process.
• Previous experience working on technically challenging applications would be an advantage (ie) medical, tight tolerance work.
• Ability to interact with suppliers, customers and external toolmakers.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics would be an advantage.
