Reporting to the Coordinator, Education & Outreach, and working closely with the Cultural Programming team, the Community Programming & Outreach Associate is responsible for liaising with internal and external stakeholders to establish and build relationships to execute events, services and programs. The goal of this work is to improve the effectiveness, consistency and quality of participation in arts and culture programming.
Stakeholders include community organizations, artists, rental clients, Downtown Brampton BIA, committees, businesses, professional associations, social organizations & services, patrons, as well as staff, interns, students, volunteers, and other City departments.
1.Programs and curates Cultural Programming events and activities.
2.Builds relationships and leads community outreach initiatives.
3.Promotes Cultural Programming events and activities and develops artists and community opportunities.
4. Leads internal communication to support Cultural Programming community outreach initiatives
5.Supervise support staff (contract, part-time, volunteer):
Post-secondary education specializing in arts administration, cultural management, event management, community development, or a closely related field; and/ or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated successful experience in a performing arts, visual arts, or cultural attraction environment, or proven experience in community engagement, outreach programs, arts and culture management/programming or cultural space management
Experience developing relationships and partnerships involving multiple stakeholders and organizations
• Ontario Class G Drivers’ License and ability to obtain a City of Brampton Fleet Permit
• Standard First Aid CPR-C/ AED Certification
• Passion for arts and culture and a practical knowledge of community programming.
• Demonstrated history of being a confident, articulate leader who works well collaboratively with fellow staff members as well as outside constituents
• Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation ability
• Understanding of business needs, project management, process development
• Must be forward-thinking and innovative
• Organizational skills; detail-oriented, well organized and able to coordinate and multi-task to accomplish a variety of tasks and activities with conflicting priorities and timelines
• Ability to manage confidential information relating to artists, budget, and human resources
