CATERING & BOH SUPERINTENDENT
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Site Team Manager-Newbuild and Commissioning, Superintend serves
as a key Owner’s Representative within the Newbuild organization, responsible for overseeing
and monitoring shipyard execution, subcontractor performance, and supplier deliverables
related to outfitting, back-of-house (BOH), and associated vessel installations throughout the
yacht construction lifecycle.
This role is responsible for ensuring all assigned systems, equipment, and installations are
executed in accordance with the Shipbuilding Contract, approved technical specifications,
classification requirements, regulatory standards, quality expectations, and project delivery
milestones. Acting as an extension of the Owner’s Newbuild organization, the Inspector
provides technical oversight, operational guidance, quality assurance, and proactive issue
resolution to support timely vessel delivery, commissioning activities, and operational
readiness.
The position requires extensive cruise and yacht newbuild experience, with strong technical
knowledge across marine outfitting, safety systems, shipboard operations, and construction
methodologies. The Inspector will work collaboratively with the shipyard, architects,
consultants, classification societies, suppliers, operational stakeholders, and cross-functional
project teams to support successful execution of the project from design review through final
delivery and commissioning.
This role plays a critical function in strengthening shipyard accountability, enforcing contractual
and quality standards, supporting integrated commissioning efforts, minimizing delivery risk,
and ensuring the vessel is delivered in alignment with Owner expectations, operational
requirements, and premium luxury brand standards.
This position is located onsite at the Shipyards, you will be required to walk extensively, lift up to 20KG, climb scaffolding & ladders and work in a construction zone.
Key Responsibilities
Newbuild Oversight & Execution
•Provide on-site Owner representation and technical oversight for all assigned outfitting, BOH systems throughout construction, testing, commissioning, and delivery phases.
•Monitor shipyard progress, workmanship quality, installation sequencing, and contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, approved drawings, technical specifications, and project schedules.
•Support enforcement of quality assurance and quality control standards across all assigned scopes of work.
•Identify construction, installation, operational, and delivery risks proactively and collaborate with project stakeholders to develop timely corrective actions and mitigation plans.
•Ensure all deliverables support operational readiness, guest experience expectations, crew functionality, safety compliance, and premium yacht standards.
•Support integrated commissioning activities and ensure systems transition effectively
from construction through operational acceptance.
Technical & Operational Responsibilities

•Cold Rooms and Freezers
•Food preparation areas
•Crew galleys and messes
•Dry Stores
•Beverage Stores
•Catering logistic routes
•Loading and receiving areas
•Bars and restaurants
•Apartment Catering areas
•Ensure operational functionality and maintainability of all spaces
•Responsible for the review, commenting and preparing of approval correspondence for
vessel plans, drawing, makers specification submitted by the Yard is attended to on time
•Attend at the daily inspections, commissioning activities or as directed related but not
limited to the above-mentioned systems
•Coordinate, apply quality measures and in any other way assist the Yard in complying
with the required standards expected the project is to be built to. Provide solutions
which will benefit the primarily the project, the Owner
•Coordinate troubleshooting and corrective actions
•Support the technical definition and the installation on board of the Owner supplied systems
•Assist for structuring the Inventory control system software (Catering and technical equipment function hierarchy, parts, and planned maintenance routines)
•Review and verify crew circulation routes, food flow logistics, waste handling flow, service efficiency, accessibility for maintenance and cleaning
•Ensure spaces are practical for real operational use and not only compliant on drawings
•Attend FATs and outside the Yard project activities
•Attend Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT) and Sea Trials
•Verify system performance vs. design parameters
•Verify Hygiene standards, finishing quality, equipment alignment, proper drainage slopes, accessibility, equipment protection during construction
•Identify construction, installation, operational, and delivery risks proactively and collaborate with project stakeholders to develop timely corrective actions and mitigation plans.
•Ensure all deliverables support operational readiness, guest experience expectations, crew functionality, safety compliance, and premium yacht standards.
•Support integrated commissioning activities and ensure systems transition effectively from construction through operational acceptance.
