What you'll be doing:

As Chief Accountant for Italy, you’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with both statutory and corporate requirements. You’ll lead the Record to Report (R2R) process, oversee month-end close, and ensure compliance with local tax and audit obligations. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain high standards of financial control, support audits, and provide insights that help drive business decisions. Your role will be key in ensuring the integrity of financial statements and building confidence across the business.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate accounting records according to statutory and corporate requirements for Lead Market.
• Contribute with monthly financial reporting for Corporate purposes: postings, reports, accruals, webforms, analysis. 
• Keep control over IFRS vs Statutory adjustments.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare interim statutory financial statements.
• Organize annual statutory audit and coordinate with external auditors (Deloitte) & external audit committee (Colegio Sindicale).
• Deliver Annual Statutory accounts package.
• Maintain relationship with local tax advisors (i.e. EY and similar)
• Prepare data for Tax returns and declarations: VAT, Intrastat, Withholdings, Certificazione unica, Corporate Income Tax, Green taxes, monthly statistics. VAT area includes continuous control, payments, settlements and records.
• Monitor changes in tax regulations and implement necessary adjustments. . ie. Tax rules  on incentives, offers and bonuses.
• Comprehend local rulings and timely implementation to Avon processes.
• Prepare commentary for  quarterly Certification process (attend the call, understand the reports, follow-ups)
• Cooperate with all CoE teams, GBS service delivery, Controllers, Tax & Internal control  team in order to improve processes and building positive relations
• Look for new ways of improving efficiency and quality of the processes.
• Widen financial and accounting knowledge by taking part in trainings, best practices.

Work Experience

• 4 year+ experience in finance/accounting/tax/audit structures, preferably in the multinational company.
• Experience in Statutory reporting and Tax data readiness.

Education

• Diploma/Degree/Master in Finance/Accounting/Economics or professional accounting certification

Skills & Competencies required

• Very good knowledge and experience of accounting systems.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS standards
• Ability to be self organized, work under pressure with the strict deadlines.-
• Very good knowledge of English (both written and spoken)
• Understanding of multicultural work environment
• Great learning agility.
• Proactiveness, ability to maintain high quality performance in the changing environment.
• Willingness to seek improvement of the processes
