Software Engineer - Internship (Hybrid - Milan)

Why this role is interesting:

You build real features on systems that actually matter This is not a sandbox project or an isolated ticket queue. You'll contribute to MotorK's core platform, used by automotive manufacturers across Europe. What you ship reaches production, impacts customers, and operates at scale.

You work across the full lifecycle, not just a layer You won't be siloed into one task. You'll move across implementation, code review, testing, and deployment - understanding how the whole system fits together, with senior engineers alongside you at every step.

You work in an AI-native engineering environment AI is not an afterthought here. It's embedded into how we design, code, review, test, and ship software. You're expected to actively leverage tools like Cursor, Claude, and Copilot to accelerate your own development cycles, improve code quality, and explore better solutions faster. We'll help you build that muscle early.

You ship across borders You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across multiple European offices - getting exposure to how distributed, international engineering organizations actually operate.

What we're looking for:

You're pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. More importantly, you've written code outside of coursework - personal projects, open-source contributions, or previous internships that show you build things because you're curious, not just because it was assigned.

Concretely:

• Working knowledge of PHP and Python, demonstrated through real use
• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and software fundamentals
• You write clean, maintainable code and can explain why you made the tradeoffs you did
• Strong problem-solving instincts and a genuine eagerness to learn fast
• Clear communicator in English, written and verbal - you work with people across countries

Useful to have, not required:

• Exposure to Java, Go, or other backend languages
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, or cloud platforms
• Experience with relational or document databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
