Sports Journalism Intern - Reporting, Writing & Digital Madia

EIC (Experience Internship Canada) is looking for motivated candidates to join its teams as a Sports Journalism Intern – Reporting, Writing & Digital Media.

You will contribute editorial content about sport, its people and EIC community experiences. You will prepare stories, interviews and reports for our digital channels.

This internship is based in Rome, Italy.

You will work in an international professional environment that values collaboration, initiative and learning through practical work. A supervisor will help you understand priorities and take on responsibilities as your skills develop.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• News monitoring: follow sports developments and identify relevant stories for our audiences.
• Story angles: pitch ideas connecting sport, careers and international experience.
• Research: verify sources, figures and background information for articles.
• Interviews: prepare questions and collect insights from sports stakeholders or participants.
• Writing: produce profiles, reports and articles adapted to the publication channel.
• Reporting: help cover events where attendance and access have been arranged.
• Multimedia: adapt stories into short-form, audio or video formats with creative colleagues.
• Editing: proofread, revise and prepare stories for the agreed editorial approval process.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• You are studying journalism, media, communications or sports management.
• You have a strong interest in sport and genuine curiosity about people and facts.
• You can share examples of writing, interviews or content you have created.
• You pay attention to fact-checking, accurate quotations and deadlines.
• You are comfortable communicating in English. French is an asset for collaboration with French-speaking colleagues and audiences.
• You can work collaboratively, seek feedback and suggest practical improvements.
