Job Description:

  • To give absolute care to all outpatient and emergency cases attending Accident & Emergency Department. To attend to all CODE BLUE.
  • To provide acute life-saving care to any patient regardless of their financial disposition.
  • To attend to an acutely ill patient in the ward prior to the consultant’s arrival.
  • To attend working hours according to the management :
  • i. 8.30 am – 5.00 pm (Monday to Friday)
  • ii. 8.30 am – 1.00 pm (Saturday Only)
  • iii. Off Day on Sunday
  • iv. Required to do Overtime when required by the management
  • To accept pass-over cases from resident Medical Officer in the previous shift.
  • To hand over cases to the Medical Officer in the next shift.
  • To write referral letters for any patient who need to be transferred-out from the casualty.
  • To carry out procedures as follows in Accident & Emergency an in the ward:
  • i. Intravenous cannula insertion.
  • ii. CBD insertion
  • iii. Blood investigation
  • iv. Blood C + S
  • v. Toilet and suturing if requested by patient and within the Medical Officer’s capability.
  • To refer patients to the appropriate consultant deemed necessary.
  • To always be contactable at all times during working hours.
  • To examine and treat all TMC staff who come to A & E Department with ailments.
  • To inform the consultant of all admissions under their care.
  • To get information regarding diagnosis and condition of patient who want to be transferred to TMC from Medical Officer in the concerned hospital and to inform the specialist concern.
  • To conduct Health Screening Programmes which include insurance medical check-up, health screening profile, senior citizen check up, etc.
  • To attend talks, seminar for continuous medical education CME.
  • To be call on for any disaster, and to attend meetings with A&E staff.
  • To participate in on-going clinical training with A&E staff e.g. cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), IV drip setting, assessment of emergency cases, etc.
  • To perform any other duties, without hesitation, as and when required by the Management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery – MBBS)
  • Years of Experience: 2–5 years

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledgeable and strong believer in Quality Improvement activities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years working experience as a Medical Officer (post-registration)
