Perfusionist, Operation Theatre

• Adherence to nursing care vision, mission, goals, and objectives, aligns with the scope of nursing services to ensure high-quality care rendered.

• Notifies the unit manager of any changes in the situation that could impact the standards of care.

• Operates and maintains specialized equipment assigned to the unit to ensure equipment is maintained in good condition and safe for use.

• Evaluate patient conditions, report abnormal findings, and progress to consultants, collaborate with them on patient care, assist anesthetists and surgeons as needed, and compile a cardiac operation list.

• Provide patient safety by maximizing care in both the operating room and intensive care unit, selecting appropriate equipment to the needs of patient oxygenators, blood, and blood products, and lab results, monitoring per procedure, and ensuring the highest standard of nursing care.

• Monitor blood gases, chemistry, coagulation, hemoglobin, and hematocrit during surgical procedures, and review lab results per procedure to ensure the highest standard of nursing care.

• Support in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory when the Cardiac Technician is absent, ensuring continuity of quality nursing care.

• Collaborate with the unit manager to propose new equipment in the yearly Capex Budget to maintain smooth workflow in Cardiac Services.

• Support team members with the patient's transition to the intensive care unit and ensure that the patient is stable and comfortable.

• Establish effective communication with disciplines, patients, and relatives to ensure patient satisfaction and participate in health education for cardiac patients and their families in Critical Care Services.

• Administers pharmaceuticals and intravenous solutions under the supervision of an attending cardiothoracic surgeon or anesthesiologist.

• Participates in unit meetings, dialogue sessions, and hospital activities.

• Check cardiac patient’s charges for completeness and charge accordingly

Education:

• Registered with the Medical Assistant Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Medical Assistant or

• Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a State Registered Nurse (SRN) with at least 3 years of current post-registration experience in Operation Theatre

• Post basic in related field.

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimal 3 years of current post-registration experience in Operation Theatre.
