Senior Economist, RG Geopolitics | Economics Department (JEK)

Plan, manage and conduct research and assessments on the impact of geoeconomic fragmentation to Malaysia, as well as develop policy recommendations to advance the Bank’s thought leadership on how Malaysia can reinforce its strategic positioning amid the changing global economic order.

• To oversee and conduct in-depth research on current and emerging geopolitical and geoeconomic issues/trends, assessing their structural implications for Malaysia’s macroeconomic development. 


• To drive and coordinate strategic  advocacy  to  the  Government  on  national  policies  aimed  at reinforcing Malaysia’s position within the global economic order.
  
  To provide high-quality technical advisory and analytical support on economic matters relating to geopolitics, through participation in inter-agency meetings and policy platforms, where required.


• To lead  and  undertake research  and  analysis  in  producing  original  analytical  content  and communication pieces to:
  
  
  
  • Produce  timely,  comprehensive,  analytical,  and  accurate  write-up  and  communication soundbites for the Bank’s publications and the Management.
  
  
  • Provide input for speeches, talking points for intervention and feedback on papers and proposals received both internally and externally, on topics that relate to geopolitics.
  
  


• To oversee and undertake administrative tasks, where necessary, to ensure business continuity and smooth departmental operations.

Academic Qualifications:

First Degree in Economics (preferred), Econometrics, Public Policy, Mathematics, Accounting and Finance or related field. Masters in Economics/Econometrics is an advantage.

Experience:

Preferably at least 5 years of working experience in Economics and the Financial Sector.

Experience in investment, trade or related international economics work would be an advantage.
