Senior Executive Engineer - BHS Operations (Liaison & Performance)

Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

To support the optimisation of Baggage Handling System (BHS) operations through performance monitoring, data analytics, stakeholder coordination, and operational planning. The role is responsible for analysing operational trends, monitoring capacity utilisation, identifying improvement opportunities, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and providing data-driven insights to enhance BHS performance, service reliability, and operational resilience.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

BHS Performance Monitoring & Analysis

• Monitor and analyse BHS operational performance, system utilisation, baggage processing volumes, throughput, and service level achievement.


• Develop performance dashboards, reports, and operational analytics to support management decision-making.


• Identify trends, bottlenecks, recurring operational issues, and performance gaps.


• Conduct root cause analysis on operational disruptions and recommend improvement initiatives.
  Monitor operational KPIs and ensure timely reporting to management.

Capacity Planning & Operational Readiness

• Analyse baggage demand patterns, passenger growth forecasts, flight schedules, and seasonal traffic trends to assess BHS capacity requirements.


• Support operational planning for peak travel periods, airport events, terminal expansion, and special operations.


• Conduct capacity and throughput studies to optimise system utilisation and operational efficiency.


• Provide recommendations on manpower requirements, operational strategies, and future capacity enhancements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

• Act as the focal point for operational coordination between BHS Operations, BHS Maintenance, Airport Operations Centre (APOC), Airlines, Ground Handlers, Security Screening Operations, and other stakeholders.


• Facilitate operational meetings, performance reviews, and stakeholder engagement sessions.


• Coordinate communication of operational issues, planned maintenance activities, system upgrades, and operational changes.


• Support issue resolution and alignment of operational priorities among stakeholders.

Operational Performance Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve baggage handling efficiency, operational reliability, and service delivery.


• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programmes.


• Track implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions arising from operational reviews and incident investigations.


• Benchmark BHS operational performance against industry best practices and comparable airports.

Incident Review & Performance Assurance

• Participate in operational investigations and post-incident reviews.


• Analyse operational disruptions, service failures, and performance variances.


• Monitor closure and effectiveness of corrective actions arising from incidents and operational audits.


• Support business continuity planning and operational readiness assessments.

Governance, Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with operational policies, service standards, and reporting requirements.


• Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and performance assessments.


• Monitor adherence to operational KPIs and service level agreements.


• Maintain documentation and records related to BHS operational performance.

Key Challenges

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualisation tools.


• Ability to interpret operational data and convert findings into actionable recommendations.
  Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.


• Knowledge of airport operations, baggage handling systems, and service performance management principles.


• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  Strong project coordination and facilitation capabilities.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Statistics, or related discipline

Relevant Industries

Special Requirements

• 5 years of experience in airport operations, aviation operations, operational planning, performance management, business analytics, logistics, or related field.


• Experience in operational performance reporting, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis is preferred.


• Experience within airport baggage operations, airport operations centres, or automated systems environments is an advantage.

• Ability to support operational activities outside normal office hours when required.
