The role
We're looking for an ATE Software Engineer to join Seas of Solutions' R&D team in Zoetermeer, developing production Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software for maritime safety equipment sold under the McMurdo brand (EPIRBs, PLBs, VDRs, and AIS transponders). You'll build and maintain the Python software driving our production test systems, develop test automation across multiple product lines, and work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to take new products from development into reliable, repeatable production testing.
What you will do
Design, develop, and maintain production ATE software, primarily in Python, for test and calibration of maritime safety products
Build and improve test automation frameworks to increase throughput, repeatability, and reduce manual test effort
Interface test software with test hardware and instrumentation over Ethernet, RS-485, and RS-232
Develop and integrate hardware-interfacing routines for DUT communication, fixtures, and instrumentation control
Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers and production/quality teams to define test requirements and coverage
Support introduction of new products into production test (NPI), including bring-up of new ATE stations
Debug and resolve issues in test systems, including intermittent issues found on the production floor
Maintain test result logging, traceability, and reporting to support regulatory and certification requirements
Document ATE software, test procedures, and station setup for production and support teams
Provide ongoing support and improvements to ATE systems already deployed in production
What you will offer
2-5 years of relevant experience in ATE or production test software development
Strong proficiency in Python for test software development
Practical experience building and maintaining test automation
Familiarity with communication protocols: Ethernet, RS-485, and RS-232
Experience with hardware interfacing, including instrumentation control, DUT communication, and test fixtures
Experience working with databases (e.g., SQL) for storing, querying, and reporting on test data
Prior experience developing ATE for production product testing
Strong debugging skills that span the software/hardware boundary
Good written and spoken English, with the ability to work across cross-functional and cross-regional teams
Experience with test instrumentation such as power supplies, DMMs, RF test equipment, or signal generators
Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for test software
A relevant technical degree (Electronics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar)
Willing and able to work on-site in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands
Why join us
