Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety Engineering

As Group Leader RAMS-e, you will play a key role in strengthening and expanding the RAMS-e capability within Philips Innovation Engineering. You will lead a team of 26 Quality and Reliability Engineering professionals (15 direct (EHV) , 10 indirect (Pune) reports) and support Philips businesses globally, while further shaping the RAMS and Systems Engineering programs across the company.

You lead a growing team of highly skilled specialists, delivering world-class System Engineering for complex products and systems in Healthcare, High-Tech Systems, and Medical Devices. This role offers high autonomy, strong technical depth, and a dynamic, international environment.

Your role

• Define and drive the strategy, objectives, processes, and budget of the RAMS-e group as a member of the Department Management Team.

• Develop and evolve service propositions, competencies, and infrastructure, ensuring long-term expertise and relevance.

• Collaborate globally with Philips R&D, excellence programs, and businesses, and build strong stakeholder networks inside and outside Philips.

• Lead people management across the group, including recruitment, performance management, development, and succession.

• Ensure the group’s delivery and performance meet short- and long-term innovation partner expectations.

• Translate a long-term vision into actionable plans for both the group and the wider business.

• Actively support customers and projects together with your team.

• Strengthen existing partnerships and identify new business opportunities.

Your team

Philips Innovation Engineering is primarily located at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, with additional locations in Drachten (NL), Pune/Bangalore (India), and Cambridge (US).

You will join an organization of approximately 1,200 technology specialists, designers, project managers, and consultants, supporting all Philips businesses.

Within Innovation Engineering, the Quality and Reliability Engineering (QRE) department consists of over 150 experts across multiple competence groups, including RAMS-e (Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety Engineering), Test and Verification engineering (TVE), System Quality Engineering (SysQE), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Electrical Design Services (EDS).

Your RAMS-e group consists of 26 specialists based in Eindhoven and Pune. The team is international, diverse, and works on both internal and external customer programs. You report directly to the Department Head.

You’re the right fit if

• You hold an MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• You have proven experience leading global technical teams, with people management responsibility for at least 10 professionals.

• You are effective in motivating and developing highly skilled experts.

• You bring strong expertise in product development and innovation, e.g. DfSS Black Belt.

• You actively build and leverage networks across R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, and business functions.

• You have experience in customer-focused, global environments, preferably within medical devices or other regulated industries.

• You demonstrate an entrepreneurial leadership style, with ownership and decision-making strength.

• You act as a role model leader, combining credibility with empathy.

• Experience in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety is an advantage.

This is an office-based role, with on-site presence at least three days per week.
