The Packaging Engineer is part of a team that

(1) identifies and validates new packaging technology / methods, 

(2) develops and implements new packaging specifications,

(3) provides technical expertise to the Hill's plants to identify and implement solutions to packaging equipment / material issues and to continuous improvement goals,

(4) and identifies projects that contribute to cost savings and to sustainability goals.

The Packaging Engineer:

- leads the implementation of recyclable Petfood bags and will be supported by a multidisciplinary European team. 

- works closely with Supply Chain (Producation and Quality), Customer Service & Logistics (CS&L), Procurement and suppliers. 

- is located in Etten-Leur and reports to the European Design and Packaging Manager.

Main responsibilities:

• Work with flexible packaging suppliers to find the optimal recyclable plastic petfood packaging and test in our Etten-Leur facility


• Set up and execute (using standardized methodologies for technology transfer process) at the packaging lines in Etten-Leur and Hustopece


• Record and analyse test data and prepares reports to include recommendations and conclusions

• Lead weekly meetings with the multidisciplinary technical development team


• Stays informed and arrange the latest materials from the flexible suppliers

• Determine the development strategy for implementation together with the Regional Packaging Manager

Your profile: 

• BSc or MSc in packaging engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related field


• 4-5 years of functional experience in flexible consumer products packaging


• Experience in packaging design management in a global FMCG company is a plus


• Fluent in English


• Fluent in Dutch is a plus


• Good communication and networking skills


• Encourages creative thinking, pushing for simplification and continuous improvement in packaging


• Experience in Project-, Innovation- and Manufacturing Management


• SAP knowledge and experience with Google environment (Docs, Sheets, Slides etc.) is a plus

The Packaging Engineer position is a temporary position for the period of one year
