(Senior) Consultant Energy Storage

Our Northern Europe Energy Storage team is expanding its presence in Germany. We invite you to make a difference in the energy transition and join the team in that exciting, fast-growing market. We provide advisory services spanning the entire life cycle of grid-scale BESS projects and systems, including feasibility studies, risk assessments and owner’s engineering. Clients are developers, investors, and suppliers. In this role, you will be a specialist, doer-seller and project manager for the team’s battery energy storage activities. You will collaborate with our local and international energy storage colleagues as well as DNV colleagues in other areas of expertise, to set up and run energy storage projects, in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.  
 

As our Senior Consultant Energy Storage, you will lead and work on multidisciplinary technical consultancy projects for most of your time (65 - 75%). Technical topics include identifying risks and mitigating measures for BESS projects in development, technical advice during procurement / construction / operation, and/or safety and regulatory compliance. The remaining time you will be active on developing our energy storage business in Germany and beyond. You will monitor developments in energy storage market in Germany and abroad and support the team with making strategic choices and continuously improving our way of working.  
 

Tasks you can expect in your role as Senior Consultant Energy Storage:

• Execute consultancy / engineering projects on battery energy storage systems (with a focus on Germany), which could include business case assessments, technical due diligence, owner’s engineering, safety / design reviews, and/or training.
• Independently drive business development with a focus on Germany, generate proposals, and build client relationships.
• Manage smaller and larger projects in (inter-)national teams.
• Present DNV’s services at customer meetings and events.
• Support DNV's mission and vision and have fun doing it!

• Master's degree in electrotechnical engineering, sustainable energy technology, or similar.
• Preferably 3+ years of experience with grid-scale (Li-ion) battery energy storage systems/applications/regulations
• Advanced project management skills and understanding of energy storage in transmission and distribution systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills in English and German.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
