(Senior) Manager, Solutions Engineering Maritime



 


ROLE DESCRIPTION


The incumbent is the technical point of contact for a sales team or specialized segment. The incumbent is a key member of the Solutions Engineering Team, providing guidance and planning in aspects of defining, developing and improving solutions for customer’s service requirements using the full suite of SES products and services. The incumbent will be responsible for solution design and technical support which impacts the performance of SES. Mentoring and training are key components of the role.


 


As a Manager, Solutions Engineering Maritime, you will be responsible to :



  • Support regional/segment Solutions Engineering team to ensure technical solutions are presented clearly and address commercial considerations;

  • Support technical service solution design and prepare technical proposals in support of sales requests with a detailed understanding of the customer’s service requirements;

  • Perform engineering analysis guidance to determine how new and existing services can be optimized;

  • Challenge legacy processes based on assimilated data and present alternate efficient options;

  • Develop and provide training to customers both internal and external on SES services and products;

  • Support operational events, contingency planning and regulatory considerations;

  • Track and understand new satellite access schemes, earth station antenna design, and wireless network technologies;

  • Managing a team of globally dispersed Solution Engineers to successfully deliver goals established in support of sales Initiatives.


 


COMPETENCIES



  • Proficiency in satellite transmission analysis and complex solution engineering

  • Knowledge of IP networking to include Cloud based solutions

  • Good Negotiation & Communication skills to include excellent presentation skills

  • Proven Customer Relation skills

  • Market intelligence & technology development awareness

  • Regional and/or segment knowledge: Specific knowledge related to region/segment

  • Analysis knowledge: Ability to optimize technical solutions for specialized region/segment

  • Brings a commercial and innovative mindset to how they develop strategy and lead teams.


 


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering/Communications/Computer Science

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant Solution Engineering experience in Aero, Maritime, Energy, Fixed Data, Commercial Shipping, Government or Cloud markets

  • Theoretical and practical experience with antenna design and optimization

  • Knowledge of satellite transmission analysis and optimization

  • Knowledge of satellite access technologies and earth station components

  • Knowledge of English is essential. Additional regional languages desirable

  • Excellent communication ability, both in written and verbal

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and sales proposal skills

  • Willing to travel internationally and meet directly with clients

  • Ability to work effectively in a global high energy multicultural team

  • Willingness to travel (up to 40% of the time).
