Senior Principal R&D Engineer Device Physicist

About the role

You will work in the Nexperia Business Group (BG) Integrated Circuit Solutions (ICS) Technology Platform Team, in the subgroup Front End New Product Introduction. You will drive technology and device selection for the design teams, and you will interact with the Front-End (FE) Foundries to obtain the best fit and most cost-effective technologies.

You will be participating in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as FE NPI engineer in a leading role.

What you will do

• Translation of circuit requirements to device and technology requirements.

• Benchmarking of Foundry technologies on Technical Figures of Merit and cost.

• Translate the needs of the design teams into requests targeted to the Front-End Foundries, concerning device modelling, PDK setup, Foundation IP, Wafer Level Reliability, device characterization and device architecture. 

• Do root cause analyses of product yield loss related to device or technology weaknesses.

• Analyze reliability failures through knowledge of device reliability degradation mechanisms.

• You will work in a multi-disciplinary R&D engineering environment.

What you will need

Education and experience:

• University level master’s degree in physics or electrical engineering.

• 10 years of work experience in semiconductor R&D environment focused on development of Automotive grade ICs.

Technical Skills:

• Expert on device architecture of all active and passive components in CMOS and HV BCD technologies.

• Medium level knowledge on process technology, circuit design, ESD, wafer level reliability degradation mechanisms, product reliability, PDK tools, PDK pcell creation.

• TCAD device simulation experience in Medici Suprem Sentaurus.

• Basic schematic design experience in Cadence or Synopses.

• Python programming experience.

Soft Skills:

• Team player. Give back by making connections across the design teams in the business lines along the technology axis, on IP reuse and lessons learned.
