Have a leading role in developing and maintaining market-leading pathology scanner solutions as part of Philips Digital & Computational Pathology (DCP) product portfolio.

In a world with increasing challenges for cancer diagnostic procedures and quality of patient care, Philips DCP strives to be number one in empowering Pathologists with Digital Pathology Solutions via the best Pathology scanners, Image Management System, workflow, and Image Analytics solutions available. This helps pathology laboratories and pathologists to work more effectively, leading to higher quality diagnosis and as a result better patient care.

Our engineering team provides technical leadership to development and maintenance of our pathology scanners. We work on a constant stream of innovative solutions for our users. At the same time, we aim to optimize life cycle management and service practices for our install-base.

Your role:

  • Manages homogeneous competency areas or activities across several groups, defining budgets and supervising costs, methods, and staffing to ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Provides strategic guidance and direction to software professionals, ensuring their work aligns with organizational goals and fostering their professional growth through continuous feedback and support.

  • Understands the product creation process, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully implement software development processes.

  • Plans with a time horizon of a year, setting clear objectives and timelines to meet long-term goals and deliverables while adapting to any changes in project scope or requirements.

  • Executes continuous improvement initiatives in processes and ways of working to achieve operational excellence, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across teams.

  • Makes informed business and technical decisions promptly, based on thorough data gathering, effective analysis, and sound judgment, balancing immediate tasks with the organization's long-term strategic vision.

  • Ensures delivery of high-quality software at a sustainable pace, maintaining advanced levels of software craftsmanship as established by the Software Center of Excellence.

  • Interacts regularly with lower and/or senior management or executive levels regarding matters spanning multiple functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.

  • Ensures adherence to all applicable development processes, legal standards, quality metrics, security protocols, and regulatory requirements to maintain compliance and excellence.

  • Manages talent across the team, while driving employee selection, performance management, compensation management, career development, and ensuring effective operational management.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Bachelor's OR Minimum 3 years of experience with Master's in areas such as Software Development, Software Design and Architecture, Testing and Quality Assurance or equivalent.

  • Combine people leader role with hands-on involvement in project core-teams, while also contributing to content, such as design FMEA, risk management, and a host of other deliverables.

  • Experience with HW-based medical devices, systems engineering, and requirements management is a must as we develop Pathology Scanners.

  • Prior experience in Digital Pathology is highly preferred.

  • Experience in Usability engineering is preferred towards development of new features.
