Job description:
The Shift Leader plays a critical role in driving daily restaurant operations, leading team performance, and ensuring consistent execution of brand standards. Serving as the Manager on Duty (MOD), this position is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining high standards in Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC).
This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage fast-paced operations, coach team members in real time, and hold the team accountable to performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & Operations
- Lead and manage restaurant operations during assigned shifts as MOD
- Deploy team members effectively across key positions (kitchen and front of house)
- Drive strong execution during peak and non-peak hours
- Monitor ticket times, order flow, and Speed of Service (SOS) performance
- Adjust staffing and manage breaks based on business needs
- Communicate clear goals and expectations to the team each shift
Food Quality & Safety
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to brand standards
- Monitor inventory levels, prep readiness, and product quality
- Complete food safety checks, including temperature logs and compliance procedures
- Maintain full adherence to food safety regulations and QSC standards
Cleanliness & Restaurant Standards
- Execute daily cleaning plans and maintain sanitation standards
- Ensure cleanliness across the entire restaurant (FOH and BOH)
- Maintain cleaning systems and documentation
- Support equipment upkeep, including fryer maintenance and boil-outs
Cash Handling & Administrative Execution
- Follow all cash handling procedures and maintain accurate cash control
- Balance registers and complete required shift documentation
- Execute opening and closing procedures with consistency
- Support deposit processes when assigned
Guest Experience
- Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate service on every shift
- Address and resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
- Ensure team members consistently follow service standards
- Create a positive, high-energy environment that keeps guests coming back
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or shift leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
