Job Description - Accountant


Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our growing security and manned guarding services company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing statutory compliance, supporting payroll administration, and ensuring sound financial controls across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting



  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions and accounting records.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure proper documentation of financial activities.

  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable



  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely vendor payments.

  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments.

  • Maintain accurate supplier and customer account records.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis



  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

  • Monitor operational expenses and budget performance.

  • Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to management.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance



  • Prepare and process monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.

  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions including PAYE, Pension, NHF, VAT, and Withholding Tax.

  • Maintain payroll records and statutory compliance documentation.

Audit & Internal Controls



  • Support internal and external audit exercises.

  • Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures.

  • Monitor financial transactions to identify discrepancies, irregularities, or potential risks.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.






Requirements




  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 2–4 years' accounting experience, preferably within a service-based organization.

  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, ATS, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, ERP systems, or related platforms.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
