Accountant, Finance

About You

We are looking for a trustworthy and highly competent Accountant to join our growing Finance Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the position holder will be part of the Team to drive all Accounting and Book-Keeping functions of the Company.

You will work with large amounts of numerical data, handle multiple tasks with deadlines, and provide transparent and complete reports to management. You should have a firm grasp of accounting and financial practices and regulations and possess strong computer and verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting transactions
  

• Prepare budget forecasts
  

• Publish financial statements on time
  

• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  

• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  

• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information 
  

• Review, prepare and ensure timely payments by verifying documentation, requesting disbursements and determine relevant applicable taxes
  

• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
  

• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  

• Prepare reports on financial health and liquidity by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends
  

• Recommend financial actions and strategies by analysing accounting options/information
  

• Audit financial transactions and documents
  

• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and security, and conduct database backups
  

• Comply with financial policies, internal controls and regulations
  

• Guides junior Finance Team Members, coordinating activities and answering questions
  

• Fulfil day to day finance and administrative duties of the Department
  

• 3-5 years experience working as a qualified Accountant 
  

• A Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable educational institution (in Accounting, Finance or Business discipline is preferred)
  

• Experience in FinTech 
  

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
  

• Excellent knowledge of IFRS
  

• Knowledge and advanced working experience of Excel
  

• Knowledge and working experience of Quickbooks or any relevant Accounting Software.
  

• Able to work effectively and productively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  

• Strong analytical skills to monitor, measure and report
  

• Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
  

• Confident with a strong sense of judgement 
  

• Experience as a Mid-Level or Management position Finance Professional
  

• Self-motivated with ability to meet deadlines independently and as part of a Team
  
  

• Must be based in Yaba, Lagos or surrounding areas.
  
• Must be available to start no later than 8th April 2024 (or as soon as possible)
