Job Summary
The business development specialist will be responsible for driving high-volume diesel (AGO) sales growth across the country by acquiring new clients and expanding relationships with existing customers. The role focuses on strategic B2B sales, large account acquisition, contract negotiations, and volume growth across both high-volume and medium-volume diesel consumers, including industrial, commercial, and institutional customers. The BDS must demonstrate a proven track record in large diesel supply transactions, bulk fuel contracts, and high-value client acquisition.
Responsibilities

Revenue Growth & Market Expansion:
Identify and secure high-volume diesel supply contracts across the country.
Develop strategic relationships with industrial, commercial, and institutional buyers.
Achieve aggressive monthly and annual sales volume targets.
Typical client segments include the following:
Manufacturing companies
Telecom tower operators
Hospitals and healthcare facilities
Hotels and hospitality chains
Construction companies
Logistics and transport firms
Large residential estates
Government agencies
Data centers and technology firms
Client Acquisition:
Prospect and close new business opportunities across Nigeria
Develop a pipeline of large diesel consumers (10,000 L â 500,000 L+ monthly).
Lead contract negotiations and pricing agreements.
Key Account Management:
Manage strategic accounts and ensure long-term supply contracts.
Increase client lifetime value through volume expansion.
Maintain strong relationships with procurement and finance teams of client organizations.
Market Intelligence:
Monitor pricing trends across depots and major marketers
Track competitor activity and pricing strategies.
Identify emerging sectors with increasing diesel demand.
Commercial Strategy:
Develop pricing strategies aligned with margin targets.
Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure reliable delivery.
Identify opportunities for regional market penetration.
Collections & Credit Risk Management:
Ensure timely customer payments in line with credit terms.
Work closely with finance to manage receivables.
Maintain strong cash flow discipline on accounts.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelorâs degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
- 3 - 4 years total experience with a minimum of 1 year specific to diesel sales.
- A professional certification is an advantage.
- Proven track record of closing high-volume diesel contracts.
- Strong relationships with major diesel-consuming sectors in Nigeria
- Experience working with fuel marketers, distributors, or energy companies
