Job Summary
The Lead Engineer, Boiler Field Instrumentation is responsible for leading and overseeing all preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities within the plant, ensuring the reliability, availability, safety, and optimal performance of boiler field instrumentation systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenance schedule
Develop and improve preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenance culture
Monitor the execution of preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenance on CMMS
Reviews all preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenances and ensure they properly documented.
Ensures monthly reports are duly prepared within stipulated time frame.
Ensures risk register of preventive/corrective/breakdown of boiler instrumentation and section are duly updated and documented accordingly.
Advice the Head Instrumentation and control for onward transmission of issues found during preventive/corrective/breakdown action.
Addresses issues bordering on human resources and personnel issues and escalates it upward if not addressed or for further action where necessary.
Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians during complex troubleshooting activities.
Periodically assess all staff under him for training needs for optimal performance.
Ensures availability of material and tools required for the job.
Ensures HSE guidelines are adhered to strictly during and on the job.
Provide support in spare parts planning, Budget planning, purchase, and inspection activities.
Ensures monthly reports are duly done and submitted within stipulated time frame.
Implement strategies that will improve performance and reliability
Execute documentation according to IMS standard
Perform covering role in the absence of the Head, Instrumentation and control
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Instrumentation and control/Head Maintenance.
Education and Work Experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of work experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory level and direct exposure to Boiler Instrumentation and control systems and power plant maintenance processes.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Knowledge of Instrumentation and control system for Boiler and auxiliaries
Sound understanding of working and history of turbine generator and auxiliaries
Good knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to Instrumentation and control maintenance of Boiler/Turbine generator and auxiliaries.
Technical Trouble shooting skills.
Sound knowledge of safety requirements.
Good knowledge of computerized Maintenance Management system or equivalent.
Knowledge of power generation process.
Effective Communication and Reporting Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.

Oversee operation of the Turbine and Boiler, during shift duties
·
Coordinate Physical inspection /condition monitoring of equipment in the
turbine and boiler sections of the plant
·
Oversee minor adjustments/repairs as required
·
Plan resource requirements during shift duties –manpower and operations materials
·
Unit manpower utilization and allocation during shift duties
·
Coordination with other team leads for ensuring efficient plant
operations.

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in
Engineering from an accredited/ reputable university
·
Minimum of five (5) years relevant work
experience in a power plant with at least 3 years in position of Supervisor
with at least 200MW plant
