SEA-FAJ Consults Limited is recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly skilled, proactive, and security-conscious Cybersecurity Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of the organisation's cybersecurity controls, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, networks, and digital assets.
Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Cybersecurity Officer will play a critical role in protecting the organisation against evolving cyber threats, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting incident response activities, and promoting a strong culture of information security across the business. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on cybersecurity experience, excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of regulatory requirements within Nigeria's financial services industry.
Monitor the organisation's IT infrastructure, networks, endpoints, cloud environments, and applications for potential security threats, anomalies, and policy violations.
Administer and maintain cybersecurity technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), firewalls, antivirus, email security, and network monitoring tools.
Investigate, analyse, and triage security alerts, escalating confirmed incidents in accordance with the Incident Response Plan.
Conduct routine vulnerability assessments and coordinate the remediation of identified security weaknesses.
Maintain accurate security logs, audit trails, and event records across critical systems.
Support the execution of the organisation's Cyber Incident Response Plan, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident activities.
Perform root cause analysis on cybersecurity incidents and prepare detailed incident reports with recommended corrective actions.
Monitor emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, malware campaigns, and attack vectors relevant to the financial services sector.
Coordinate with internal IT teams and third-party vendors during cybersecurity incidents to ensure timely resolution.
Maintain the cybersecurity incident register and support regulatory reporting where required.
Enforce compliance with the organisation's Information Security Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Data Classification Policy, and related security standards.
Administer user access management processes and ensure the principle of least privilege is consistently applied.
Conduct periodic user access reviews and recertification exercises.
Support internal and external audits by preparing cybersecurity documentation, evidence, and remediation plans.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Risk-Based Cybersecurity Framework, Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), and other relevant standards.
Deliver cybersecurity awareness programmes for employees, including onboarding sessions and periodic refresher training.
Coordinate phishing simulations, social engineering exercises, and security awareness campaigns.
Develop user-friendly security guidance materials, policies, and awareness communications.
Promote a strong organisational culture of cybersecurity awareness and data protection.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement security hardening standards for servers, workstations, mobile devices, cloud infrastructure, and network devices.
Review security configurations for new systems, software implementations, and third-party integrations.
Conduct cybersecurity assessments for vendors, fintech partners, and service providers.
Support data backup, recovery, and business continuity initiatives to ensure resilience against cyber threats.
Participate in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing exercises.
Prepare monthly and quarterly cybersecurity reports covering incidents, vulnerabilities, compliance status, threat intelligence, and key performance indicators.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of security configurations, network diagrams, asset inventories, and operational procedures.
Support the preparation of cybersecurity reports and presentations for Executive Management and the Board.
Monitor regulatory updates, cybersecurity advisories, and industry best practices, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree (minimum of Second Class Upper) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
A postgraduate degree or professional diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field is an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, IT Risk Management, or Security Operations.
Previous experience within a CBN-regulated financial institution, fintech, bank, insurance company, or other regulated financial services organisation is highly preferred.
Practical experience with cybersecurity monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and security compliance.
Experience working with enterprise security technologies and security monitoring platforms.
Applicants must possess at least one of the following certifications:
CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA CySA+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) – Associate level acceptable
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation or Lead Implementer
GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) or an equivalent industry-recognised certification
Strong knowledge of information security principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and risk management practices.
Experience with SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), vulnerability scanners, and security monitoring tools.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, Windows and Linux operating systems, cloud security, and endpoint protection.
Knowledge of identity and access management principles.
Familiarity with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Risk-Based Cybersecurity Framework, Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), NDPC requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cybersecurity reporting tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
