KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quantity Surveyor will lead all cost management and commercial activities across building and infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate cost estimation, effective budget control, value optimization, and full compliance with contractual, financial, and industry standards.
Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and tender documents for construction projects.
Conduct site measurements and valuations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
Monitor and control project costs, track variances, and provide cost-to-completion reports to management.
Administer contracts, including variations, claims, and payment certifications in compliance with contractual terms.
Maintain controlled documentation for all QS activities in line with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
Maximize project margin and add value to the construction process by proactive involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting.
Carry out monthly financial reviews (CVRs) on projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin.
Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
Timely submission and negotiation of final accounts to the client/main contractor and subcontractors.
Prepare interim and final payment certificates, ensuring timely submission to clients and contractors
Collaborate with procurement teams to validate material costs and supplier quotations.
Support risk assessment activities, providing cost-related data for project risk registers.
Generate cost reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure audit readiness by maintaining accurate and complete cost records for ISO and statutory reviews.
Provide mentorship and guidance to Assistant Quantity Surveyors and junior staff.
Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial data, adhering to approved procedures and ISO-compliant practices.
Any other additional task assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
First Degree in Quantity surveying
MSc or MBA in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
Minimum of 7 - 10 years’ project experience in construction industry.
Registered with the Quantity Surveyor Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN).
A member of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyor (NIQS)
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards and basic knowledge of construction contracts.
