Our client is seeking to hire a highly result driven Relationship Manager, Public Sector who will be responsible for driving business growth within the Public Sector Group by acquiring and managing relationships with Federal, State, and Local Government institutions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), parastastals, and government-owned enterprises.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for growing deposits, originating quality risk assets, deepening client relationships, cross-selling the bank's products and services, and delivering sustainable revenue while maintaining a high-quality portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, originate, and develop new business opportunities within the public sector.
Drive deposit mobilization and grow the bank's liabilities portfolio.
Generate quality risk assets in line with the bank's credit policies.
Develop and execute business acquisition strategies to achieve assigned financial targets.
Identify opportunities to cross-sell the bank's products and services.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), State Governments, Local Governments, and government-owned institutions.
Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned public sector clients.
Deepen existing client relationships to increase revenue and customer retention.
Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure prompt resolution of client issues.
Manage a profitable portfolio of public sector clients.
Monitor portfolio performance and ensure compliance with approved credit and operational guidelines.
Maintain portfolio quality while minimizing credit and operational risks.
Conduct financial analysis and prepare quality credit proposals.
Monitor customer facilities and ensure compliance with approved terms.
Identify and proactively manage potential portfolio risks.
Monitor developments within the public sector and identify emerging business opportunities.
Gather market intelligence on competitors and industry trends.
Recommend strategies to improve market share and business performance.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards.
Prepare periodic business performance and portfolio reports.
Maintain accurate customer documentation and records.
Requirements
Key Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Social Sciences or other related field from a recognized university.
A postgraduate degree and/or professional certification (MBA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, CIBN, etc.) will be an added advantage.
8â12 years' experience in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Public Sector Banking, or Relationship Management, with at least 3 years of experience managing public sector relationships within a commercial bank.
Proven track record in deposit mobilization, credit origination, and portfolio management.
Strong understanding of public sector banking and government financial operations.
Strong business development and relationship management skills.
Sound knowledge of corporate and public sector banking products.
Strong credit analysis and financial statement interpretation skills.
