Tax Assistant

Job Summary
The Tax Assistant will support the finance and tax team in preparing tax-related documents, maintaining accurate records, conducting basic tax research, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations. The role is suitable for an entry-level professional who is detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in developing a career in taxation and finance.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and organizing tax returns, schedules, computations, and supporting documents.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation.

Assist with the preparation and filing of applicable tax returns and statutory submissions.

Support the reconciliation of tax accounts and identify discrepancies for review.

Assist in calculating taxes such as VAT, withholding tax, PAYE, and other applicable statutory taxes.

Conduct basic research on tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Support the finance team during tax audits, reviews, and inspections.

Assist in responding to routine tax-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain proper filing and documentation of tax receipts, certificates, correspondence, and related records.

Monitor tax filing deadlines and assist in ensuring timely compliance.

Support the preparation of tax reports and summaries for management review.

Assist with data entry and verification of financial and tax information.

Work closely with the accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.

Maintain confidentiality of financial and tax-related information.

Perform other tax and finance-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
