Job Description - Mine Manager, Nussir

Location:  Nussir Project Site, Kvalsund, Hammerfest Region, Troms og Finnmark, Norway


This is a site-based position and residential in Norway.


Duration: Full time


Reports to: Senior Site Project Director/General Manager


 


Blue Moon Metals is advancing a portfolio of strategically important critical mineral assets, including the Nussir copper project in Norway, the Springer tungsten project in Nevada, the Blue Moon zinc-copper project in California, and the Apex germanium-gallium project in Utah. These projects position Blue Moon at the forefront of securing domestic supplies of critical minerals essential to the economic, technological, and national security interests of the Western world.


The Nussir copper project is seeking an experienced and dynamic Mine Manager to lead our underground mining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mine’s performance, ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, and environmental stewardship. Reporting to the Senior Site Project Director during construction and the General Manager during operation, the Mine Manager will provide strategic direction for the underground mind, supervise departmental teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Direct and manage all aspects of the underground operations of the Nussir mine, including production, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance.

  • Develop and implement operational plans, budgets, and schedules to achieve production targets and optimize resource utilization.

  • Lead construction of all underground infrastructure required to support the mine operation.

  • Ensure all activities comply with federal, regional, municipal, and local mining regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies.

  • Build, lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, promoting professional development and a strong safety culture.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and initiate corrective actions as needed to address variances in production or safety.

  • Drive collaboration between mining/operations, engineering, geology, and environmental departments to support mine planning and development projects.

  • Manage mining contractor (and mining contract) to ensure underground progress is as planned and that performance and costs are optimized.

  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and best practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, safety, and compliance to senior management.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including with regulators, Indigenous communities, suppliers, and local authorities.


 


Qualifications & Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field; advanced degree or professional designation (P.Eng., PMP) considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 15 years’ progressive experience in mining operations, including at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or management role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Norway mining regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and environmental management practices.

  • Proven leadership, team building, and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, projects, and operational risk.

  • Experience working with Local communities and understanding of local cultural and environmental considerations is an asset.

  • Experience in operations and in a supervisory role in a Nordic region is an asset.
