  • Fixed Term / Secondment: 4 months, flexible location

Are you a curious problem-solver who thrives on understanding how things work—and how they could work better?

We’re seeking a Business Analyst with the vision and analytical skill to turn complexity into clarity and ideas into action. This is your opportunity to contribute meaningfully to improved business performance and operational effectiveness that supports the work we do to protect and conserve Aotearoa’s natural and cultural heritage.

You’ll play a key role in analysing, developing, and supporting the implementation of solutions that drive improvements across DOC’s business systems and processes. Partnering with system owners, project teams, and stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll identify needs, shape business cases, and ensure that change initiatives deliver measurable benefits.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Collaborate with business system owners to identify needs and opportunities for improvement

  • Analyse and document business requirements, systems, and processes

  • Gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to inform robust business cases

  • Translate business and system requirements into clear, testable specifications

  • Manage the full lifecycle of business and system requirements, including risks and change control

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Experienced in business analysis methodology and business case development

  • Strong understanding of formal project management frameworks and best practice delivery

  • Awareness of business context, risks, opportunities, and constraints

  • Exceptional written communication and documentation skills—able to convey complex ideas clearly

  • Working knowledge of software development life cycles and modern business systems modelling tools

  • Confident user of business analysis and modelling tools

  • Strong critical and systems thinking capabilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively to solve problems and deliver practical, high-quality solutions

The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) sits within the Organisation Support Group. The purpose of the team is to enable the successful delivery of DOCs Investment Portfolio by providing fit for purpose tools and frameworks. We support better investment decisions by providing efficient and effective delivery and assurance, driving successful realisation of outcomes and benefits.

The salary range for this position is $80,054.00 - $108,700.00 pro-rata with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
