Stroke Aotearoa is the national charity dedicated to preventing stroke and improving lives. For more than 45 years, we have worked alongside stroke survivors and their whānau, guided by hope, care, and collective action.
At the heart of our organisation is Te Ahi Tūmanako — the flame of hope — calling us to take action, advocate for equity, and ensure wellbeing remains strong within our communities.
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a founding document and are strengthening how this commitment is lived across our organisation, services, and partnerships.
About the role
We are seeking a Cultural Capability & Learning Facilitator to help grow and embed culturally grounded learning across Stroke Aotearoa and the communities we work alongside.
Based within the Māori Partnerships team and reporting to the GM Māori Partnerships / Pou Whakahaere as an 0.8 FTE, this role focuses on designing and delivering kaupapa Māori–informed learning that strengthens cultural capability, supports Tiriti-aligned practice, and improves outcomes for Māori, whānau, and all people impacted by stroke.
A key part of this mahi is providing kaupapa Māori leadership to Te Ara Whakatika, our Te Tiriti o Waitangi implementation framework — translating strategy into practical, everyday practice across kaimahi, services, and learning systems.
The role also has a clear external learning and development focus, supporting capability-building with partners, communities, and others working in the stroke, health, and community sectors, where learning is central to improving outcomes.
This is a relational, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable leading learning in complex environments and who understands that transformation happens through people, practice, and relationships.
