HEALTH & SAFETY BUSINESS PARTNER | FULL-TIME | AUCKLAND

Join Parceline in a pivotal role where you’ll help shape and strengthen our safety culture across New Zealand’s leading express package linehaul network. As our Health & Safety Business Partner, you’ll work alongside operational leaders, linehaul contractors, and frontline teams to embed best-practice safety systems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our people return home safely every day.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Health & Safety Business Partner, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and embedding health and safety systems, standards, and processes across Parceline’s linehaul transport and operational environments. Working closely with leaders, employees, and contractors, you’ll provide expert guidance and practical support to ensure compliance, manage critical risks, improve safety performance, and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the network.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys influencing positive change, building strong relationships, and helping operational teams achieve outstanding safety outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive and support a health and safety framework focused on leadership, learning, risk-based decision making, and alignment with Freightways health and safety systems.  

• Partner with operational leaders to promote a proactive and positive safety culture across all sites and operations.  

• Identify, assess, and manage critical risks, ensuring effective controls and monitoring processes are in place.

• Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented and completed.

• Deliver health and safety training, facilitate committee meetings, and support Health and Safety Representatives to encourage meaningful worker participation.

• Develop and deliver health and safety campaigns, communications, and improvement initiatives that reduce workplace risk and promote wellbeing.

• Implement systems, technology, and reporting processes that improve health and safety performance and compliance.

• Analyse safety data, identify trends, and use insights to support informed decision making and continuous improvement.

• Lead contractor safety programmes, including audits, compliance monitoring, pre-qualification processes, and safety performance improvement initiatives.  

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an experienced health and safety professional, or potentially a transport operations leader looking for a change. You are someone who will combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach. You’ll be confident influencing at all levels of the business, capable of balancing compliance requirements with operational realities, and passionate about creating safer workplaces.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• A genuine interest in the heavy vehicle and transport industry.

• Have experience in a health and safety advisory, business partner, or similar role (ideal but not critical).

• Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and can influence positive behavioural change.

• Take a pragmatic, common-sense approach to problem solving and risk management.

• Are resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic operational environment.

• Have strong attention to detail and are confident holding yourself and others accountable.

• Are experienced with health and safety systems, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
