We’re looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager who is passionate about food, people, and creating a welcoming dining experience for our residents and wider village community.
About the Role
This is a practical, all-round leadership role where you’ll be right in the action, cooking, leading, and shaping the daily kitchen experience.
You will:
Lead the day-to-day kitchen and café operations
Cook and prepare fresh, nutritious meals daily
Develop seasonal menus and daily specials
Manage stock, control costs, and minimise waste
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met
Support and guide a small team to deliver consistent, high-quality service
Create a warm, positive environment for residents, whānau, and visitors
Purpose-driven mahi – your work directly supports community wellbeing
Autonomy & creativity – bring your ideas to menus and service delivery

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally have:
Experience managing or leading in a kitchen environment
A recognised cookery qualification (Level 4 or above preferred)
Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
Confidence working hands-on in a fast-paced setting
Strong organisation and problem-solving skills
An understanding of diverse dietary needs
A commitment to cultural respect and working in a diverse community
