Te Tūranga / About the Role

As a Knife Tutor, you'll play an important role in developing the capability and confidence of our people. You'll be responsible for coordinating and delivering training programmes, coaching team members, assessing competencies, and supporting employees to achieve and maintain required skill levels.

Working closely with operational leaders and supervisors, you'll help ensure new and existing employees receive the training, guidance, and support needed to perform their roles safely and effectively.

You'll provide training in knife handling, sharpening, and processing techniques, maintain training records, support onboarding activities, and identify opportunities to improve employee performance and capability across the business.

You'll also work alongside buddy trainers and operational teams to monitor trainee progress, provide coaching where required, and contribute to a positive learning culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7.00-4.30pm, flexibility for seasonal work required.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about developing people and helping others succeed. You'll bring:

  • Experience within a meat processing, manufacturing, training, or production environment
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and administration skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records
  • A proactive approach to coaching, mentoring, and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of knife handling, sharpening techniques, and production processes
  • A commitment to health, safety, and employee wellbeing
  • A training qualification or willingness to work towards one would be advantageous
