The Opportunity | Te āheinga


Join the NPDC Marketing and Communications team as our Marketing and Communications Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering parental leave.


 


This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and organised marketing professional to play a key role in promoting some of Taranaki's most iconic venues and events. Working alongside a passionate and collaborative team, you'll help deliver engaging marketing and communications activities that connect our community with unforgettable experiences.


 


You'll support the promotion of a diverse portfolio including the Bowl of Brooklands, Stadium Taranaki, TSB Showplace, TSB Stadium, Todd Energy Aquatic Centre, Community Pools and other NPDC business units as required. From developing content and coordinating campaigns to supporting event delivery and stakeholder engagement, no two days will be the same.


 


Because our venues host events outside of standard business hours, flexibility is essential. This role requires occasional evening and weekend work to support events and ensure successful delivery of marketing and communications activities. Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua



  • Work closely alongside and build strong relationships with New Plymouth Event Venues and Aquatics teams, venue hirers and ticketing agencies.

  • Liaise with venue hirers and ticketing agencies for marketing of ticketed events from announcement until event finish.

  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.

  • Working with Venues & Marketing and Communications Advisors to develop marketing, communication and promotional plans for venues, events and clients.

  • Requesting assets for venue marketing.

  • Working with promoters to maximise ticket sales.

  • Publishing event details on websites, social media pages, gig guides.

  • Creating and sending EDMs including announcements / pre-sales / on sale / pre-event / post event surveys / venue updates / event specific.

  • Working with designers to produce venue printed materials - ensuring design work meets our brand guidelines.

  • Organising distribution of collateral (brochures, leaflets, posters, pull up banners)

  • Maintaining digi-screens at venues.

  • Managing and growing data and subscriber lists.

  • Requesting/downloading and circulating event reports.

  • Support & financial tasks such as raising Purchase Orders and invoicing.


 


 


Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako



  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant marketing communications discipline or on the job training of more than three years in a marketing and communications role.

  • Strong understanding of current marketing principles.

  • Demonstrated experience of relationship management.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability the relate to a wide range of people across different audiences and channels.

  • Experience of digital marketing platforms – websites and EDM (Mailchimp or equivalent).

  • Basic design skills would be an advantage
