About the role


Te Hau o Te Ora Invercargill has an exciting opportunity for a warm, organised, and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team.


As the first point of contact for patients, whānau, and visitors, you will play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and efficient medical centre environment. You will help coordinate services, support clinical workflow, manage patient expectations, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of our practice.



This is a varied and busy role where no two days are the same. This role involves evenings and weekends. You will provide high-quality reception and administrative support, assist the wider team, and help maintain a professional, organised, and welcoming work environment.

The ideal candidate will bring:



  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A professional, friendly, and respectful manner.

  • The ability to engage with people of all ages and backgrounds in a calm, caring, and culturally responsive way.

  • Strong computer literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Professionalism across all reception, administration, and front-of-house duties.

  • Accuracy and timeliness when processing invoices and payments.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Punctuality, reliability, and strong time-management skills.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a busy, high-performing team.

  • A strong commitment to confidentiality and patient privacy.

  • Medtech PMS knowledge would be an advantage, but is not essential.

  • Be currently in New Zealand and legally entitled to work without sponsorship.

  • Hold a full New Zealand driver licence.

  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.

  • Be willing to complete pre-employment screening.

  • Complete and return a clear Ministry of Justice Criminal History Check.
