On Farm Assist - Casual (new role with more flex)

Do you love being outdoors and working with animals? Have a strong customer focus?

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

About the Role:

Our Casual On Farm Assists provide valuable support to dairy farmers and LIC teams across the region.

This is a casual, on-call role where work is offered as demand arises. Unlike traditional farm roles tied to every milking, assignments can include a variety of on-farm activities during different times of the day, allowing greater flexibility around your availability.

You may assist with:

• Herd test support

• DNA sampling

• Herd audits

• Animal weighing

• Other seasonal and on-farm projects

No two days are the same. One week you may help with herd testing, while another may see you supporting farmers with animal recording activities or special projects.

This role is ideal for people who enjoy variety, being active, working outdoors, and contributing to New Zealand's dairy industry without committing to regular farm working hours.

Why This Role Could Suit You:

• Casual, on-call work that can fit around other commitments

• A variety of on-farm activities across the season

• Opportunity to gain experience in New Zealand's dairy industry

• Work outdoors alongside farmers and animals

• No previous dairy farming experience required, training provided

About You:

Our ideal candidates will:

• Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and learn quickly

• Have excellent customer service and communication skills

• Have excellent time management skills and a strong attention to detail

• Be physically fit and active

• Be self-motivated and professional

• Hold a current, full drivers’ licence (essential)

The ideal person will be someone who has a hands-on approach, knowledge of, and empathy for the New Zealand dairy industry. An integral part of this role will be interacting with farmers and field-based staff to ensure LIC deliver a quality service.

Flexible work. Fresh air. Real purpose. Join LIC as a Casual On Farm Assist.
