About Us – Christchurch City Mission
The Christchurch City Mission (Te Whare Mīhana Ki Ōtautahi) helps anyone in need, no matter their situation. We work alongside people going through tough times—whether it’s due to job loss, housing issues, addiction, family difficulties, or financial stress.
We respond to both immediate crises and long-term challenges. Our services aim to build confidence, dignity, and skills so people can live independently and feel proud of themselves. We've seen lives change with our support and firmly believe everyone deserves compassion, support, and a second chance.
Mana Whakatipu Service
This new service offers a new path, a new life, and growth beyond the gate.
We support tangata whaiora to navigate as they transition from a justice journey to reintegrate back into community. Each journey begins with a first step: establishing a place of safety and whanaungatanga. From there, we nurture stability through housing, employment and wellbeing with a focus on community, whānau and cultural connections to support a clear path forward.
Working as a Peer Support, you will join a multi-disciplinary team of clinical, housing and employment, peer support and Mātauranga Māori practitioners providing holistic support for those navigating reintegration into community following a justice journey. This role will involve evenings and weekends on a rostered basis one in every eight weeks.
Mana Whakatipu is a collaboration, bringing together the strengths of Purapura Whetū Trust, Odyssey House Christchurch and Christchurch City Mission – we work together in a ‘one-team’ approach, to deliver holistic reintegration supports that are trauma and healing informed, whānau-centred and culturally sustaining.
About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position, worked Monday to Friday and may include a rostered weekend.
