Senior HVAC Technician - Pathway to Technical Specialist

East Tamaki base but work Auckland wide | Permanent position | 32 hours per week

Energy Efficient Solutions is looking for a highly experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join our growing team. Initially, this will be a hands-on role across installation, servicing and fault-finding. Over time, however, we want this person to develop into our technical specialist, supporting the team, contributing to technical job planning and helping shape the technical standards of the business.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll remain actively involved in HVAC work while also becoming a trusted technical resource for the wider team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing residential, commercial and industrial HVAC systems

• Diagnosing faults, completing repairs and carrying out preventative maintenance

• Supporting complex technical decisions and resolving challenges on site

• Working closely with customers, builders, clients and other trades

• Mentoring junior and developing HVAC technicians

• Providing practical guidance on installation methods, fault-finding and good trade practice

• Assisting with job planning, site coordination and technical problem-solving

• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism

• Supporting the owner and wider team with your technical knowledge and experience

What we’re looking for

This is a genuinely senior position, suited to someone with substantial HV AC experience and the confidence to lead through their knowledge and workmanship.

You’ll ideally bring:

• At least 10 years’ hands-on experience within the HV AC industry

• Broad experience across residential, commercial and industrial environments

• Strong capability across installation, servicing, maintenance and troubleshooting

• The ability to diagnose problems and provide practical, well-considered solutions

• A high standard of workmanship and genuine pride in doing the job properly

• The confidence to mentor others and share your knowledge

• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

• The ability to work independently and lead by example

• A full New Zealand driver’s licence

• A positive, reliable and professional approach
  

Where this role could take you

This is not an immediate desk role, we need someone who is willing and able to remain hands-on initially.
However, as you become established within the business, there is genuine potential to transition into a more office-based technical position.
This could include quoting, job planning, project coordination, technical support, staff development and team leadership.
