Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Open Source Intelligence Group (OSIG), based in the Wellington CBD, is seeking a suitably skilled and qualified person to fill the Senior Open Source Analyst role. After 7 successful years, OSIG is seeking an experienced intelligence analyst with a deep passion for open source intelligence to help the team continue to build on its successes.

Your job will be to work closely with the Manager to mentor staff, deliver high-quality OSINT products, support training, and be an OSINT tradecraft and subject matter expert for the Police analyst community.

Your goal is to ensure decision makers have the best information available to achieve the goals outlined in our business

Key Accountabilities:

• Excellent OSINT research and analysis skills.


• Enthusiastic about mentoring and training staff (OSIG and other workgroups) in OSINT collection and analysis.


• Delivery of timely and accurate OSINT products to inform organisational decision making.


• Interested in discovering and sharing new OSINT tradecraft.


• Able to support OSINT training and the skill development of partner teams.


• Working effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners at various levels.


• The capacity to engage and contribute to work on policy and compliance matters.


• Demonstrate successful management of competing priorities and demands.


• Champion diversity of thought and perspective.

Security Clearance Requirements 

To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance. 

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or: 

• A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or


• A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 and $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
