Our partner: Our partner is a UK based independent children's publisher who is looking for a senior controller to join their production team who are based in New Zealand. The perfect candidate will either work in New Zealand, Australia or in a similar time zone. Our client publishes engaging, high -quality books and novelty products enjoyed by families around the world. Working with global creative and manufacturing partners, they combine innovation, flexibility and strong production standards to deliver exciting products while maintaining a collaborative and supportive culture. Responsibilities:
- Manage the end -to -end production of a portfolio of frontlist titles and reprints, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with international suppliers, negotiating production schedules and pricing while balancing cost, quality and efficiency.
- Oversee artwork, reprographics, proofing and approvals, ensuring seamless coordination between internal teams and external production partners.
- Maintain accurate costing, purchasing, production schedules and work -in -progress data, supporting effective financial control and reporting.
- Lead safety testing, compliance and logistics processes while identifying opportunities to improve workflows, reduce inefficiencies and enhance production performance.
Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: The ideal candidate will bring significant print production experience within children's publishing or similarly complex product environments You'll be commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable managing multiple international projects simultaneously, while working independently within a remote team.
Essential:
- Proven experience in print production, ideally within children's publishing or novelty product manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of reprographics, print materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing and negotiating with international suppliers.
- Knowledge of global safety testing and compliance requirements for children's products.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Confident communicator with experience collaborating across remote teams.
- Self -motivated, proactive and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
Desirable:
- Experience managing co -editions and direct -to -retail production.
- Knowledge of production databases and workflow improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting process optimisation and continuous improvement across production operations.
