Senior Software Engineer Java/JavaScript

Software Engineer – Java/JavaScript | 6-Month Contract

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer for a 6-month contract focused on improving code quality, unit testing and CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll work with existing Java/JavaScript applications, refactoring code where required to make it testable and building the unit testing capability around it.

What you’ll be doing:

  Develop and maintain Java and/or JavaScript code

  
  


• 
  

  Build unit tests and test harnesses

  
  


• 
  

  Refactor existing code to improve testability

  
  


• 
  

  Build or enhance CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated unit testing

  
  


• 
  

  Work within established software engineering standards

  
  


• 
  

  Use GitHub Copilot to assist with unit-test generation and code refactoring

  
  


• 
  

  Use AI tooling within defined engineering and governance guidelines

  
  

What we’re looking for:

• 
  

  Strong Java and/or JavaScript development experience

  
  


• 
  

  Solid unit testing and test automation capability

  
  


• 
  

  Experience refactoring existing production code

  
  


• 
  

  CI/CD and pipeline experience

  
  


• 
  

  GitHub/GitHub Actions experience highly desirable

  
  


• 
  

  Comfortable using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools
