We are looking for a skilled Telecommunications Service Technician to join our Rotorua team and play a key role in delivering essential telecommunications services across the Bay of Plenty region. Working under the direction of the Field Manager, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and commissioning of telecommunications infrastructure while ensuring outstanding customer service and safe work practices.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll work across service and project delivery activities, fault response, customer callouts, network installations and commissioning works. You'll also contribute to identifying improvements in service delivery, supporting business growth, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards
Key responsibilities include:
Installing, servicing, repairing and commissioning telecommunications infrastructure and services
Responding to faults and service callouts across customer networks
Using fault-finding and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve network issues
Interpreting plans, drawings and technical documentation
Supporting project delivery through documentation, reporting and site management
Building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders
Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality assurance
Identifying opportunities to improve operational performance and customer outcomes
We're seeking a motivated and customer-focused telecommunications professional who enjoys working independently while contributing to a high-performing team.
To be successful, you'll bring:
Minimum three years' experience in the telecommunications industry
Experience working on Core Network Fibre Network
NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications qualification or equivalent (preferred)
Experience using jointing and fault-finding equipment, including OTDR and fibre splicing tools
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
Experience delivering service and project-based work
Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement
Full New Zealand Driver Licence
