Job Description - Systems Engineer - Network

This position provides technical expertise to desktop and server infrastructure and

end- client computing, and the focus is on implementation and support of the

infrastructure and application platforms.

Infrastructure Platform components: Storage, Compute, Virtualisation, Network,

DNS, Authentication, Security, back up and protection methods.

Application Platform components; Citrix, Microsoft Windows, Linux, SQL,

Exchange

Input into the product ecosystem and documentation standards and solution

process

The Systems Engineer - Network works largely within BAU activities to improve and

maintain the health and performance of on premise and cloud-based IT

infrastructure / network platforms and will contributes to solution identification,

detailed design and implementation and documentation of infrastructure solutions

for the client and its customers.

This role involves the following responsibilities:

ï· Installing and maintaining the operation system on relevant platforms,

managing upgrades of the operation system software and managing

patches to the operating system

ï· Network / Technical fault analysis, troubleshooting and problem resolution

ï· Being the interface between vendors and the customer regarding support

for resolution of infrastructure problems

ï· Implementing solutions, including new or enhanced systems, technology or

infrastructure

ï· Using monitoring tools to ensure measure and investigate systems

ï· Ensuring all relevant documentation is reviewed on a regular basis and

updated as and when required

ï· Creating technical documentation e.g. âas builtâ

ï· Performing capacity analysis on existing systems and recommending

system expansion or other appropriate solutions

ï· Accurate and timely logging of activity and

ï· This position may require the incumbent to travel from time to time in the

course of duties.
