Te Tūranga | About the role
We're looking for an experienced technical leader to lead our Engineering Services Team within the Transport Division.
This is a key technical and people leadership role, responsible for providing specialist transport engineering advice while leading a team of skilled engineers who support the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of Tauranga's transport network.
You'll work across major projects, infrastructure programmes, land development, network safety and strategic planning initiatives, helping ensure transport outcomes are safe, practical and future-focused.
Working closely with internal teams, consultants, developers, and the community, you'll provide trusted advice, guide technical decision-making, and support the delivery of transport solutions that make a real difference for Tauranga.
This role operates in a complex and fast-moving environment, where priorities can shift and decisions often need to balance technical requirements, community outcomes, stakeholder expectations and best-practice engineering. It will suit someone who stays calm under pressure, brings sound judgement, and can lead people through complexity with clarity and confidence.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with leadership, mentoring others, solving complex problems and contributing to the growth of one of New Zealand's fastest-growing cities.
